What is the reason for frequent coughing?

Q. My 27 years old lecturer friend had been suffering from frequent cough since 3 months. The reasons for the dry cough are not known. Moreover, he gets more cough while teaching. What could be the reason for frequent coughing? What is its treatment?

A. There may be a few reasons for his cough: (especially during a lecture)

Chalk allergy.

Not drinking enough water and so speaking on dry throat.

Allergy to air blast.

Faulty vocal hygiene, like changing voice while speaking.

(After lecture)

Allergy to dust.

Allergy to temperature changes.

Allergy to perfumes, etc.

Treatment:

Avoid all above. Take short-term anti-allergic treatment.
