Hi Lad,

Actually I have my Lasik done at American Eye Center in Shangri-la way back 2002 if I'm not mistaken. It cost P55,000 for both eyes. But I have it free as part of the benefits from my previous employer.

First, they will have to check if you are qualified to undergo Lasik. If qualified, then they will schedule you for the operation.

During the operation, they will give you anesthesia in the form of eye drop. It's effective and you will feel nothing during the procedure. But you might need to take painkiller after a few hours because the anesthesia will wear off.  Also, have someone accompany you, because after the operations, you must keep your eyes close. So arrange someone to take you home.

But the next day, it's back to normal for you. You can go back to your normal activities. I even attended a seminar the next day which is a Saturday.

Btw, these are the reminders American Eye will give you:

1.  On the evening following the procedure, you are advised to relax and avoid strenuous activity. Dust, smoke and bright lights may irritate your newly operated eyes and it is recommended that you avoid these.

2.  After Lasik, wear the prescribed eye shield (they will provide) continuously even while sleeping. During waking hours, sunglasses are recommended.

3.  You may shower or bathe immediately after the procedure. Avoid directing water onto your face. You may shampoo, provided that no shampoo or water gets into the eyes.

4.  No swimming for 1 month.

I'm going back to American Eye this Nov. 12 for another Lasik to correct my vision. Bumalik yata ang distance ko kaya I'm wearing glasses again specially during driving at night.

Just in case anyone of you need to clarify further, just PM me & I'll give you my contact number.

Thanks.

Hi rpmolecule,

First, to clarify, the P55k was the price way back 2002. I don't know how much it cost right now.

After the procedure, they will ask you to come back for check-up annually. There, they will check if your vision is still 20/20. There is a chance na babalik din ang grado mo in some cases, however, as stated in the consent and terms & conditions, which they will let you sign before the procedure, they will perform the lasik again on you just in case your vision is not 20/20 in the future and it is free of charge.

Don't bother looking at the video, American Eye Center is very professional and they are very careful in performing Lasik. They cannot afford to destroy their reputation being one of the well known clinic that offers lasik. I remember that Sen. Joker Aroyo is one of the patients of American Eye.

Right now, I don't know of any promos offered by any eye center. But just an advise, if you can afford, don't make price as the deciding factor, but the expertise & reputation of the clinic and number of clients who have experienced with them.

Thanks.

Thx gct168... i see.... 2002 price pa pala eto.. akala ko current rate. hehehe..   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy so mostly ngayon siguro nasa P100,000 na ang prices nila.. both eyes.

i understand na may criteria bago ka mag undergo sa procedure na ito.. correct me if am wrong, may nagsabi kasi sa kin na kelangan daw e above 500 both eyes ang grado ng mata mo or something to that effect bago mag undergo or madetermine na pwede ka mag undergo ng ganitong procedure? tama po ba?

Siguro tama ka wag tipirin.. baka kakatipid e maaksidente pa mata mo lalo pang lumala...

Thanks gct168

Just have lasik this afternoon at American eye. Actually, only my left eye lang ang nag undergo ng surgery since enhancement lang siya. My vision was 25/50.

I'll be back to normal tomorrow, meaning I can go back to my normal activities tomorrow.

Btw, cost of lasik for both eyes at American Eye is now P63k.

Just want to share this recent developments...

Late last year, I've notice my left eye vision is not improving after the lasik enhancement, until I have another check up at American Eye and found out I have what they called optical abrasion which according to the doctor, is just normal. This may be due to the dryness cause by the lasik, even if I'm been using artificial tears.

So, first the doctor first clean my left eye and apply anesthesia, "repair" my wound and place band-aid in the form of a contact lens, and then I continue my medication and change my artificial tear to another brand. After a few days, the doctor remove the contact lens.

As of this writing, I'm still applying the artificial tear but I noticed my vision starts improving.
