My Experience with Slimmers World Gym - Manila
« on: June 06, 2009, 02:11:57 PM »
I thought sharing...it's been a while since i became active to that gym only to realize that i am not getting the kind of services in that gym..

if you would ask me, i would never get back to that gym - SM Megamall Branch. I hate that place it's old and dirty, the equipments, the hours and the marketing strategy where those sales peeps keep on pushing a lot of marketing ads campaign just to show their Great Bodies promotion....  for what? to attract audience? They must be hallucinating... i heard lots of rumors saying those on display are jampacked with steroid users. i guess they're right... but to be fair i think the trainers are nice enough (sometimes i still go there but i rarely interact with them.)

kayo what are your experiences?

some of the body builders i know admitted that they use these anabolic steroids for an ampletime...but they eventually stopped before body building competition.

still it's an issue..for me am against it.. i go for natural supplements only...

hi guys, after some time of being just a reader here, id like to share my experiences with SWI....i consider myself a late bloomer for things regarding health and fitness, and have just finally decided to enroll around the end months last year....

i don't have that "body to die for" yet, but i noticed some improvements, primarily pants getting loose, shoulders and chest getting a bit of form, as well as my legs and calves...and yeah losing some double chin :)

i'm really not a meticulous gym goer who would be there daily, probably only 2 or 3 times a week, i go for the aero machines and sometimes try to squish myself in the aero classes....i've decided to start a goal, with maybe gaining my endurance first before going into free weights and further having that really big frame we all dream of...

but for someone who would like to begin with the basics first i think it would be a good start to be familiar with the "oldschool machines and equipments" as they say, that slimmer's has.....my experiences with some of their branches in malate, qc and makati was yeah, it was not totally modern, but fairly clean and well kept......staff are approachable and financially, they have payment packages to suit your budget, like if you only want 3 mos, 6 mos or a year...

unlike other exclusive gyms which include free use of towels and stuff, personally i feel safer and more hygienic bringing my own...

im happy with SWI, though it sometimes gets a bit crowded, the waiting time for you to use the machines & equipments is not that long compared to say Gold's Gym where you really have to wait for that long line of users..though they say Gold's Gym has good machines and freeweight equipments

i haven't been to their megamall branch, but i've also been hearing that the "heirarchy" there, or the "air", is quite different....but then again i have to try it myself if what  they say is true :)

also, slimmer's has a lot of convenient branches in the city which i also consider a lot....

@Pilot: hi, are you enrolled in slimmer's as well?

i prefer the non-commital plans ....at first i took the php 4,000 which ran for 3 months, but i had it under a special offer of plus one month so i had four months of gym...the first 3 days you will be assisted by a trainer to measure your body stats and design a program for you....after that you could work out on your own and explore the pther machines and equipments along the way :) my php 4,000 is already worth it since it is a universal pass and you can work out in any swi branch

actually swi promo varies from time to time, so it's best to update with their staff....recently i took a promo of buy 3 months take 3 months which costs php 9,000......this is a universal pass though...you pay around only php 6,000 ( buy 3 take 3 promo )if you decide to work out only in one specific branch...not bad no?

the one thing i liked about it pilot, is that, it is also 0% interest installment so it's not heavy on the pocket :)so you spend like 1,000+ a month

i've previously compared it with gold's gym....they also have a nice one year offer which entails you to spend 1,300 php a month, but it only has limited visits like 8 times or 9 times or so....swi has unlimited visits so if you can go on a daily basis why not ( i can't...lol )

was so lucky to have met a very kind consultant at swi and she always gives me the best low offers and could be flexible with the freebies :)

Opted to freeze my membership with Gym Plus (Starmall) to try SWI. I just signed in at SWI Pan Pacific (1 year Corp-Wide program). So far, everything seems okey. Nice and accommodating consultants, a little spacious workout and locker areas, plus a workout program provided by them - way better than FF and other fancy gyms.

@ ilovecar

I availed Corp-Wide membership - that means I can have my workout in all SWI branches. For one year program, I paid 10,800.

SWI has only 2 modes of payment - one time cash payment or credit card (6 months zero interest).
