By Chemicals:
Flush the burned area copiously with water to dilute and remove chemical. Then treat as you would a comparable burn from any other cause.
If an eye is burned by a chemical, especially by an acid or a basic substance like lye, flush it gently but thoroughly with water. Cover with a gauze dressing of a clean cloth and have it checked at once by a doctor.

Burns and Scalds- Major

  • If a clothing is on fire, smother flames with coat, blanket or rug.
  • Keep the victim lying down, to lessen shock.
  • Cut clothing away from the burned area. If a cloth adheres to the burn, don't pull it loose; leave it and cut gently around it.
  • Carefully scrub hands to prevent contamination. Cover the burn with a thick pad dressings. this excludes air, reduce pain and contamination. If dressing are not available,use freshly laundered sheets or towels. don't apply burn ointments or oil or antiseptic of any so, and don't attempt to change the dressings.
  • Call ambulance or move patient to nearest hospital emergency room.
  • If a large area of the boby is burned, administer first aid for shock. if the victim is conscious, dissolvea half-teaspoonful of salt in a quart of water. Give him half a glass of this solution every 15 minute, to replace lost body fluids. Discontinue fluids if victims vomits.

Burns and Scalds-Minor

SUBMERGE the burned skin immediately in cold water. on burns that cannot be immersed, apply ice wrapped in cloth: or apply cloths soaked in ice water, and change them constantly. Continue treatment until pain is gone Avoid ointments, greases and baking soda, especially on burns severe enough to require medical treatment. Doctors must always scrape off such application, which delays treatment and can be extreme cover the burn with sterile dressings. don't break or drain blisters.
Caution: Even superficial burns or scalds may be dangerous if large areas are involved. Consult A physician.
